“World-class” CES delivers over 80,000sq ft of tech event space in Bangalore and Birmingham
Microsoft Tech Summit roadshows are a programme of annual free-to-attend events across 17 countries, featuring cities from San Francisco to Seoul. Each event attracts between 2,000 and 3,000 participants, all eager to hear talks from Microsoft’s experts on software, infrastructure, and The Cloud.
The roadshows start with a key note delivery and then the delegates break into smaller groups to attend the workshops and talks that they are interested in. Some of the breakout spaces are laid out conference style, while others are ‘labs’; classroom style layouts where each delegate sits at a laptop and gets hands-on tuition from a Microsoft expert.
To deliver a good value, comfortable solution for Microsoft’s multiple specialist breakout spaces at the Tech Summits, which would be well received by attendees.
Contemporary Event Structures (CES) proposed to use a range of its unique inflatable event structures for the breakout spaces, and Microsoft awarded the company two events in order to trial the inflatable solution – in Bangalore, India; and Birmingham in the UK.
CES provided 14 structures in Birmingham, providing over 50,000sq ft of event space, and 7 in Bangalore, totaling over 30,000sq ft.
The events were a great success. Given the nature of the inflatable structures, the CES team were able to get them loaded in and out in a short amount of time. With set up and breakdown taking place inside a day, Microsoft was able to make increased savings on venue hire.
Microsoft asked the delegates for feedback on the new structures and the response was extremely positive, with 80% saying they liked the new system of inflatable event structures and found them highly effective as meeting spaces.
“Our challenge was to create multiple comfortable and affordable meeting spaces, within both exhibition halls and less conventional facilities. The CES team met this challenge head on. Their temporary inflatable structures provided us with an effective solution for the Tech Summit, which was quirky yet completely practical, quick and easy to assemble, and competitively priced.
“CES people and the service they provide are world-class. We enjoy working with this dynamic, supportive and flexible team.”
